okay, so there are a lot of questions in the ask and on the twitter that are being asked time and time again, so instead of repeating ourselves all the time, we’ve decided to put up an faq. please make sure you read it before asking questions (:

when is the global echelon assault taking place?

the preliminary date for the 2012 global echelon assault is SATURDAY, 28th JULY. this is subject to change, however, so make sure to keep checking the tumblr and twitter to make sure you know the exact date. when the date is 100% confirmed, we will let you all know.

you do know lots of countries hold echelon meet-ups anyway, right?

yes, we’re fully aware of this, and we love this fact. the global echelon assault doesn’t intend to detract from these regular meet-ups in any way, we just think it’s wonderful to have them all held on the same date in all different parts of the world, to show that there are echelon everywhere. 

are you/is this project affiliated with thirty seconds to mars?

this project is not affiliated with the band themselves, nor is it affiliated with virgin records, emi, sisyphus corporation or anything to do with the thirty seconds to mars. it is completely independent, organized by the echelon for the echelon, and is non-profit.

are the official echelon groups for each country aware of the project?

although it would perhaps be slightly better for all concerned if the official echelon groups approved each country’s participation, we have no preference as to whether those involved are a part of the official group for that country or not. last year, some official echelon groups were involved, some chose not to be. each individual official echelon group is entitled to choose whether they take part or not. however, this project is about bringing echelon together around the world, simply put. nothing more, nothing less. 

this project is awesome! how can we spread the word about it?

word of mouth is the best kind of advertising. tell your friends, tell your family, tell your dog. tweet about the project, reblog posts from here. get involved! 

i don’t have a tumblr, can i still take part?

of course you can! we have a GEA twitter, the link is above in the navigation bar. since there was a huge response last year, predominantly on twitter, the ask box also allows anon so you can ask any questions here if you want to make sure they’re answered.

is there a specific twitter/tumblr tag?

we’d love love love it if you could tag all global echelon assault posts on tumblr as such, as we’ll be tracking the tag. on twitter, please use #GlobalEchelonAssault at the end of your posts about the project, as we’ll be tracking those aswell. thanks!

my country isn’t on the list of participating countries?

this doesn’t mean you can’t take part! it simply means no one has contacted us from your country yet. see what interest you can gather, talk to the official echelon group in your country, make sure they’re aware of the project, and then let us know if there is enough interest in your country. by this, we mean if you can gather at least ten echelon together for a meet up. the more meets organised, the merrier!
