So who's ready to start planning this years GEA?

The new year is upon us. It’s 2012, and that can mean only one thing (well a few things but..): it’s time to start planning the GEA 2012!

Talk to your friends and your followers. Drum up interest. Find ten Echelon in your country who are interested in, and are serious about, taking part, and we’ll start compiling a Participating Countries list, as we did last year.

Meet up heads will be sorted out once we have a few countries taking part and what not.

The planning starts now, guys! Don’t forget to post and tweet about the GEA (and add tags to these too, so we can track them!). Remember, we’d love for this years to be bigger and better than last years.

So.. who’s excited? ;)

just so you guys know, we won’t be starting to plan anything until the new year, but once january hits, we’re gonna launch into plans with a vengeance. we intend to make this years global echelon assault bigger and better than last years.

so what can we do in the meantime?

spread the word!

use tumblr and twitter to spread the word about the project. lets drum up as much interest as we can. currently, between the tumblr and the twitter have just under 2,000 followers. that’s a lot, but we can get a few more in the next three weeks, i just know we can.

on tumblr, please tag any posts with global echelon assault.
on twitter, please use the tag #globalechelonassault.

that way we can keep track of the GEA related stuff that you guys are doing. brothers and sisters, you did an amazing job last year. show us what you can do this year! we can’t wait to see all your hard work <3

last years global echelon assault, as most of you will remember, or be aware of, was planned and executed in just six weeks. that’s hardly any time at all, but we still got so much done, and it all came together, amazingly.

this year, we’ve set a preliminary date of saturday, 28th july. this is subject to change, it’s just a possible date we’re looking in to. that gives us seven months to get everything planned and organised.

so what do you reckon? can we make this years bigger and better than last years?!

We’ve recieved some quite rude comments, from Echelon, because their country or meet up wasnt in the video. This is for one of two reasons.

The pictures and/or videos were not recieved in time.
The pictures and/or videos were not recieved at all.

There was a deadline for a reason: so that the video could be put onto DVD and presented to the band at the July 6th concert in Athens.

Again, if your country or meet up is not featured, it is because the materials were late or not recieved, not for any other reason. Several countries and meet ups were missed off for these reasons, which is upsetting enough, without all the abuse. We wanted to try to include every one.

So, before you send rude messages, check the pictures and videos were sent before the deadline, and to the right place. We put a hell of a lot of work into this project, everyone did, and negativity for whatever reason is not fucking acceptable.

Neither is saying we left your country out on purpose. I’m pretty sure that’s accusing the GEA of being racist, which we are clearly not as we wanted to unite Echelon around the World, regardless of color, creed, race, religion, sexuality, everything like that. We’re a family, simple as.

I’m sorry if your country didn’t make it into the video, but perhaps you should focus on the experience you gained, as opposed to accusing us of something very serious. I’m also sorry that this is such a sour note to end the project on, but something had to be said.

To all the Echelon who viewed the video, gave such wonderful comments, and gave their time and energy, once more we say to you a massive thank you. This project could not have happened without you.

This one’s for you guys :)

This is probably going to be quite long. Ooops hahaa. Hopefully, though, you’ll stick it out and read it all. I really hope you do.

So here we are, Global Echelon Assault took place on Saturday, a mere six weeks after the project began. If you think about it, that’s a short space of time, and yet we still managed to achieve an end result that truly is something to be proud of. The project has over 1,500 followers. There were over forty meet ups, in over 15 different countries. If that isn’t something to take pride in, I don’t know what is.

In all those countries, Echelon gave their time and effort and met up together, on the same day. It’s such a beautiful thing. Words cannot describe how much you all mean to me, and I really do mean that from the bottom of my heart. I don’t know how to explain it, but I’ll try my best.

My laptop decided to have a fit this weekend, of all the times for it to choose to do so, so I was out of action for much of the weekend. I had my phone, but it doesn’t really let me interact much on tumblr, or twitter. This means that the first time I managed to get online properly was today, and what an emotional day it’s been. I’ve cried so much today. The pictures and videos we’ve received so far have blown me away. They’re all so beautiful, so unique, and just amazing. I’m still, even now, overwhelmed by the support this project has had, astounded by the fact that such a small idea formulated while I was having a cigarette and browsing tumblr six weeks ago could actually become reality.

And how did it do that?

Because of you guys. Without you, the Echelon, this would never have happened. You guys took the idea, you moulded it, you played with it, you took it to new heights, and you made the Global Echelon Assault what it is, what it was, and what it will be. You all worked so hard, spreading the word, organising meet ups, sending feedback. The support was, and still is, mind-blowing.

I take no credit for this (no matter how much Tara and Lisa nag me to!). This project, this achievement? It’s all yours. It’s our family’s. You’ve all worked so hard, dedicated your time to make arrangements, pick locations, choose what you wanted to do at the meet ups, everything like that. Every tiny thing helped and counted towards making the GEA happen. And it’s all down to you guys, the believers, the dreamers, the supporters, the brothers and sisters who worked so hard.

They say you get out of life what you put into it, which goes to show how much effort you guys put in to the assault, because look how it turned out. It really is amazing. I know I keep repeating that, but it is.

Well done, Echelon. I’m so proud of each and every one of you.

The video is being worked on, and I’ll keep adding to it as and when we receive more pictures and videos from the meet ups. Once it’s done, you guys will obviously be the first ones to know about it.

If you read all of this, thank you. Take a deep breath, smile, and pat yourselves on the back. You deserve it. I just wish I could visit each and every one of you, and cuddle you up. I really do.
